After the new iPhones announced, MacBooks are following the footprints by replacing the standard USB port with a USB Type-C port. At first sight, it looks like MacBooks are going completely mobile, but to the surprise, you won’t be able to connect your regular USB cables of your iPhones. Guess What? You’re going to need more dongles any sooner if you want to connect your iPhone using your existing USB cable.
Removing the 3.5mm headphone port from iPhone 7 and 7 Plus is already a disaster for many but when it comes to MacBook Pro, people won’t resist. Even more bucks to spend on stupid nuisances just because Apple ruined it, knowing that these new MacBook Pros come with a hefty price tag starting from $1,499. At least the new MacBook Pro comes with a headphone jack.

More specifically, you have to purchase a dongle that converts USB Type-C to the standard USB 2.0 port or a separate cable (Lightning to USB Type-C). People like me avoid charging through USB cables but wall chargers. Nevertheless, USB Type-C ports have certain advantages over old USB, especially the reversible connector.
It might not be a big deal for people who don’t usually connect their iPhones or any other USB devices but for people who do will be a huge pain in the butt. You certainly have to buy an adapter that lets you connect to newer MacBook Pros. As far as the innovation goes, if most devices fall for USB Type-C, MacBooks will remain future proof.
